A Poll Held in the USA Shows Huge Support for Online Casinos

Large amount of readers of a major US newspaper believe that the time has come legalise online casinos.
One of the major effects that came about from the highly publicised story on Representative Jim McDermott's proposal to raise revenues for training and foster home funding through the legalisation and taxation of online casinos, was a poll conducted by USA Today.
The newspaper posted a survey under the question: Is it time to legalise online casinos?
Early responses to this poll showed that 97 percent of those participating believed that online casino gambling should be legalised.
USA Today's coverage of Representative McDermott's HR6501 was thorough. and quoted McDermott who said that he believes the tough economical conditions the United States is going through could sway public opinion on the legalisation and regulation of online casinos US.
Also quoted, golfing legend Lee Trevino, in his comments regarding US online casino gambling on ESPN: "We gamble billions of dollars in this country, and the Internal Revenue Service doesn't get a dime. Instead, they spend millions of dollars trying to catch these people."
USA Today claims that the online casino industry supports the concept of legalised and regulated internet gambling since it feels this would attract larger amounts of customers.
McDermott also stated: "What's going on now is around the edges of legality in various countries of the world, and gamblers aren't sure where there money is going," , finding similarities in the current U.S. betting environment with the "criminal structure" that accompanied the abortive alcohol Prohibition laws in the 'Twenties. He also finds attitudes toward gambling outdated.
"We have (online US Casino) gambling on horses," McDermott claimed. "All of a sudden we say you can't gamble online. What's that about? If we can take revenue from horse racing we certainly can take revenue from online."
McDermott's proposal is designated to amend the Social Security Act to establish a trust fund with revenues from taxes of US online casinos to provide opportunities for individuals who are, or in declining sectors of the job market.
