United States Casino Gambling Reports a Las Vegas success

While the recession was hurting the United States economy, most businesses, including United States casinos and gambling companies, suffered along with the rest of the country. But now that signs of recovery are starting to show, a contrast can found between the gambling revenues of Las Vegas and Atlantic City.

Just this week, the Nevada Gaming Control Board announced that Las Vegas Strip gambling revenue rose in December for the second month in a row. The heart of the Nevada gambling industry saw income rise by nearly 6% over the same month the previous year.

But Atlantic City continues to decline as revenues generated from the town's 11 United States casinos spiral down in what New Jersey politicians and gambling industry analysts are worring could turn into a steep dive the city might not recuperate from. Reports from the New Jersey Casino Control Commission show January revenue in Atlantic City declined by 8.5%.

Las Vegas visitors' numbers are still hurting, but high rollers are helping to take the city back to its glory days, as baccarat games contributed mightily to the gambling revenues generated. Aria, the new casino at City Center, has opened strongly with the high Rolling visitors, helping to boost numbers.

New Jersey, on the other hand, seems desperate for anything that can reverse its downward pattern in which it has found itself for the past several years. Gambling growth in Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania have put an end to Atlantic City's gaminbling exclusivity on the East Coast.

Lawmakers are pushing to let United States casinos operate online gambling for residents inside New Jersey, and are pushing a lawsuit to force the United States federal government to allow sports betting.
