US Trade Representatives Postpote Online Casino Talks With EU

US Trade Representatives called for a postponement of scheduled talks with the European Union regarding online casinos and the effects of the UIGEA.
While constantly voicing support for free trade, and promoting the removal or trade barriers around the globe the Bush administration has chosen to avoid or ignore circumstances that reveal conflicting policy which proves embarrassing to the United States government.
US Trade Representatives has called for a postponement of scheduled talks between the United States and the European Union concerning online casinos and the effect of the UIGEA. Meetings between the two economic power were supposed to take place this week, but the office of Trade Representative Susan Schwab has reportedly requested a delay of unknown length, and for unknown reasons.
Negotiations between the US and the European Union became a necesaty after complaints filed by the the Association that represents online casino operators in Europe, about protectionist laws in the united states. Altough UIGEA ( Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) pushed foreign internet casino companies out of the U.S. market, domestic businesses, such as sports betting and horse racing, continued to thrive on the net.
After receiving the charges raised by the RGA, the European Eunion sought to solve matters by inquiring with U.S. officials regarding the the laws applied, and the ways in which acts were determined to be prosecutable. The U.S. responded through Schwab, saying that there was no discrimination, and therefore no need to reply to the European Union questions.
Continued U.S. avoidance of such issues could worsen trade sanctions taken against the U.S. at a time when its economy needs all the aid it can get.
